Coding Stars: Terms and Conditions

Last Updated:  June 15, 2025

Acceptance of Terms By accessing or actively using the Coding Stars platform, which encompasses all associated websites, dedicated applications, and comprehensive services (including any future functionalities or updates), you unequivocally acknowledge that you have thoroughly read, completely understood, and legally agreed to be bound by these exhaustive Terms and Conditions. This agreement forms a binding contract between you and Coding Stars. If you are accessing or using Coding Stars on behalf of a minor (such as a child student) or an educational institution (like a school or learning centre), you explicitly represent and warrant that you possess the full legal authority to bind such parties to these terms, ensuring their compliance as well.

Account Registration and Eligibility. To ensure a secure and appropriate learning environment for all users, specific criteria and processes apply to account creation:

User Categories

    • Students: Must be at least 6 years old to independently create an account on our platform. This age threshold is established to ensure a basic level of cognitive ability for engaging with our coding and AI content.
    • Users Under 13: For the protection of younger children and in compliance with international privacy regulations, explicit parental or guardian consent is a mandatory requirement. This is facilitated through our carefully designed and verified consent process, which may involve email confirmation or other age-verification methods.
    • Users Aged 13-17: While these users can typically create accounts, they must obtain demonstrable parental approval, usually indicated through the parent’s account access or explicit digital consent, to unlock and access premium features, advanced courses, or specific functionalities that may involve additional data processing or financial transactions.
    • Educators: Must provide valid institutional email addresses (e.g., from an accredited school domain) and submit verifiable proof of teaching credentials (e.g., a teaching license, school ID, or official employment verification). Educators are fully responsible for the creation, supervision, and appropriate management of all student accounts established under their direct purview, ensuring compliance with our policies.
    • Parents/Guardians: To ensure legitimate oversight, parents or legal guardians are required to verify their identity. This verification process may involve submitting a government-issued ID or completing a secure credit card authorization (for nominal verification, not payment) to confirm their parental status. They gain access to a dedicated Family Dashboard, which provides comprehensive tools to manage their child’s account, monitor progress, and control privacy settings.

Account Security

    • Users are individually and solely responsible for maintaining the strict confidentiality of their login credentials, including usernames and strong passwords. This includes taking precautions to prevent unauthorised access to their accounts.
    • To enhance security for sensitive accounts, two-factor authentication (2FA) is a mandatory requirement for all educator and parent accounts, adding an extra layer of protection against unauthorised access.
    • Users must promptly notify Coding Stars’ support team immediately upon becoming aware of any suspected or actual unauthorised account access, security breaches, or any compromise of their login credentials, so we can take immediate protective action.

Acceptable Use Policy To foster a positive, productive, and respectful learning community, all users must adhere to the following guidelines:

Permitted Activities: Users are expressly allowed to engage in activities directly related to their educational journey on the platform, which include:

    • Diligent completion of assigned coursework, exercises, and projects as outlined in the curriculum.
    • Participation in collaborative coding projects and group activities, strictly within the established platform guidelines and under instructor supervision.
    • Responsible educational resource sharing (e.g., relevant articles, supplementary tutorials) with proper attribution to sources, promoting a culture of learning and knowledge exchange.

Prohibited Conduct: Any behaviour that undermines the integrity, security, or positive atmosphere of the Coding Stars platform is strictly forbidden. This includes, but is not limited to:

      • Academic Integrity Violations:
      • Plagiarism: Presenting code, projects, written responses, or any other work of others as one’s own, without proper citation or attribution. This includes copying directly from external sources or other students.
      • Use of Unauthorised AI Tools: Employing AI-powered code generators, essay writers, or similar tools to complete assignments without explicit permission from their instructor, thereby undermining the learning process.
      • Sharing Solution Sets: Distributing, selling, or otherwise making available solutions to assignments, quizzes, or projects to other students without explicit and written instructor approval, which compromises the integrity of assessments.

Platform Security Violations:

      • Bypassing Authentication Systems: Any attempt to circumvent or interfere with the platform’s security measures, login procedures, or access controls.
      • Introducing Malware: Uploading, transmitting, or otherwise introducing any form of malware, viruses, worms, Trojan horses, or other harmful scripts or code that could damage or disrupt the platform or user data.
      • Data Scraping: Engaging in automated data collection, web scraping, data mining, or similar processes to extract information from the platform without explicit written consent from Coding Stars.

Community Standards Violations:

      • Bullying, Harassment, or Hate Speech: Any form of communication or conduct that is threatening, discriminatory, offensive, sexually explicit, or abusive towards other users, instructors, or staff, based on any protected characteristic or otherwise.
      • Sharing Inappropriate Content: Posting, transmitting, or distributing any content (text, images, video, code, etc.) that is unlawful, harmful, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable.
      • Impersonating Users: Falsely representing oneself as another user, instructor, staff member, or any other individual or entity on the platform.

Intellectual Property Rights The intellectual capital and creative works within Coding Stars are highly valued and protected:

Ownership: Coding Stars rigorously retains all proprietary rights, title, and interest in and to:

    • All instructional videos, animations, and multimedia content were developed and produced by Coding Stars.
    • Our distinctive branding, logos, trademarks, service marks, and all associated goodwill.

User-Generated Content (UGC): We acknowledge and respect our users’ creativity:

    • Students: Students retain the intellectual property rights to their original coding projects, creative works, and other unique content they develop and submit through the platform. However, by uploading such content, students grant Coding Stars a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, sublicensable, and transferable license to use, reproduce, distribute, prepare derivative works of, display, and evaluate their work solely to provide educational services, improve our platform, and for internal pedagogical analysis. This also includes the right to use anonymised student projects for educational demonstrations or promotional materials (e.g., showcasing student achievements) provided individual student identity is protected.
    • Educator-Created Materials: Any instructional materials, assignments, or resources explicitly created by educators and shared on the platform for use by their students or other platform users become licensed to Coding Stars for institutional and educational use within the platform’s ecosystem, facilitating broader sharing and curriculum development.

Permitted Use: Users are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to:

    • Access, view, and personally use the materials strictly for their individual, non-commercial learning and educational development as part of the Coding Stars programs.
    • Limited copying or printing of course materials is permitted solely for personal educational use, provided all copyright notices are retained.

Restrictions: Any unauthorised use of Coding Stars’ intellectual property is strictly prohibited:

    • Unauthorised reproduction, extensive distribution, public performance (beyond personal educational use), commercial exploitation, or any derivative use of our materials is expressly forbidden.
    • Users may not attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to discover the source code or underlying structure of the platform, applications, or any proprietary software used by Coding Stars.
    • Users are prohibited from removing, altering, or obscuring any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices from any materials obtained from the platform.

Payment and Refunds Our financial policies are designed to be clear and fair:

Pricing and Billing:

    • Course fees, subscription costs, and any additional charges are clearly and prominently stated at the point of purchase or enrollment, before any payment is processed.
    • We accept a range of secure payment methods, typically including major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, etc.) and, for institutional clients, official purchase orders and invoicing arrangements.
    • For subscription-based services, subscriptions will automatically renew at the end of each billing cycle (e.g., monthly, quarterly, annually) unless explicitly cancelled by the user before the commencement of the next billing period.

Refund Policy:

    • Full Refunds: A full refund is generally available within 14 days of the initial purchase date, provided that less than 10% of the course content (measured by lesson completion or video watch time) has been accessed by the student.
    • Partial Refunds: Partial refunds may be considered and granted on a pro-rata basis for documented extenuating circumstances (e.g., severe illness, verifiable technical issues preventing access) that are genuinely outside the user’s control. Such cases are subject to a thorough review by the Coding Stars support and billing departments.
    • No Refunds: No refunds, full or partial, will typically be issued after 30 days from the purchase date or upon substantial completion of a significant portion of the course content (e.g., 25% or more, regardless of elapsed time), as determined by platform tracking.

Disclaimer of Warranties: Your use of our services is at your sole risk:

  • Coding Stars provides its platform and services on an “as-is” and “as-available” basis, meaning without any express or implied warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that our services will meet your specific requirements.
  • We do not guarantee that the platform will be entirely error-free, uninterrupted, consistently available, or fully secure against all potential threats. While we strive for excellence, occasional technical issues or downtime may occur.
  • No guarantees are made regarding specific individual learning outcomes, academic achievements, or future employment prospects resulting from participation in our programs. Our courses provide tools and knowledge, but personal success depends on many factors beyond our control.

Limitation of Liability Our liability is limited to ensure the sustainability of our services:

  • Coding Stars’ total aggregate liability for any claims arising out of or related to these terms or your use of the platform is strictly limited to the total amount paid by the user to Coding Stars in the preceding 6 months. This limitation applies only to direct damages and explicitly excludes any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages (such as loss of profits, data, or business opportunity).
  • We are not responsible for any interruptions to service caused by third-party providers (e.g., internet service providers, payment gateways), failures of user equipment or software, or events constituting acts of force majeure (e.g., natural disasters, wars, widespread cyberattacks).

Termination and Suspension Account access can be managed as follows:

By Coding Stars:

    • We reserve the right to immediately terminate or suspend user accounts without prior notice in cases of serious violations, including but not limited to confirmed payment fraud, repeated copyright infringements, or severe and persistent breaches of our community guidelines (e.g., egregious bullying, illegal activities).

By Users:

    • Individual users may elect to delete their accounts directly through the dashboard settings, which will initiate the data deletion process as outlined in our Privacy Policy.
    • For institutional contracts (e.g., schools), a minimum of 60 days’ written notice is required for termination, allowing for a smooth transition and data transfer process if applicable.

Dispute Resolution We encourage amicable resolution of any disagreements:

  • Negotiation: In the event of a dispute, both parties agree to engage in a good-faith discussion period of 30 days, attempting to resolve the matter amicably through direct communication.
  • Mediation: Should direct negotiation fail, mediation is a required step before initiating formal litigation for any claims under $50,000. This process involves a neutral third-party mediator facilitating a resolution.
  • Legal Proceedings: All formal legal proceedings, should they become necessary, must be filed exclusively in the competent courts within [Jurisdiction, e.g., England and Wales] and will be governed by the laws of that jurisdiction.

Modifications to Terms: These terms may evolve with our services:

  • Coding Stars reserves the right to make changes or updates to these Terms and Conditions at any time. For material changes that significantly impact your rights or obligations, we will notify users via prominent platform banners with at least 30 days’ advance notice. Additionally, email notifications will be sent to primary account holders, and specific bulletins will be issued for institutional clients and educators.
  • Your continued use of the platform and services after any such modifications constitutes your explicit acceptance of the updated Terms and Conditions.
